Lovely Jackie

"MOVE."
"Get out of my way, four eyes."
"WALK FASTER!!!"

Wow, kids are really mean to the new kid, A.K.A, Me.

This is how my Friday went at school.

I went to my locker to grab my Science book, and this medium height, blue-eyed girl with curly caramel colored hair came up to me and asked, "Are you Prudence Farrow?" Her blue eyes were twinkling a little
"Yeah, why are you asking?" No one, besides my sisters, called me Prudence at this school. It was either 'New Girl' or 'Four Eyes.'
"You left this in art class" She said, holding out my lucky bracelet.
"Oh, Thank you! How did you know it was mine?" I asked.
"I saw you showing your sisters it." She replied. I had been showing Chrissa and Jess where Starburst, Chrissa's pet llama, had bit it earlier that day. "Oh, I see. Well thank-you! Most kids would just throw it away when they found out it belonged to the new girl." I sighed.
"Yeah, the kids here aren't mean to all the new kids, just some. OH! I forgot to tell you, but I'm Jackie." She smiled.
"It's nice to meet you Jackie. I hope you don't mind me asking, but what year are you from?" I asked, and Jackie's face got even more happy.
"Oh, well I am actually a time traveler, I can go anywhere from 1970 to 1770." She beamed.
The first thing that came to my mind when she said 'time traveler' was, 'LUCKY!'
"That's so cool! What is your favorite year you have lived in so far?" I asked, getting more interested in the conversation by the moment.
She looked like she was thinking, but then she finally said, "I really liked the American Revolution."
I smiled "That's cool! So when Mrs. Groudna [our History Teacher] teaches us about it, you'll have already lived through it!"
She laughed, "Yeah! What year are you from, Prudence?"
"I'm from 2010, but my best friend, Abbey Holland, and I, say we are girls from the 1960's who got stuck in a time machine and ended up in modern day." We both had to laugh at that. "You know, I've been to the 1960's. They were another one of my favorite decades to live in."

Gosh, this girl is getting luckier by the second.

"What year were you in?" I asked.
"1968 and a little of 1969." She sighed, probably missing being in the '60's.
"Oh MY GOSH! YOU ARE SO LUCKY!" I tried not to yell, but I failed.
"I take it you like the later 1960's, huh?"
"YES YES YES!" I nodded like a five-year-old
"Cool!" Jackie smiled, then we headed for Science Class, but not before she said,
"Prudence, I think we're going to be great friends."

So maybe school isn't that bad.
