Final Farewell
We all stood there, staring into a deep grave as Amber Boswell was put to rest. Cindie clutched onto Callie for dear life, while Sonali put a bouquet of perky white daises on the grave of a perky woman.
I sniffed, I didn't know her but I had been crying a lot. Crying for Cindie and Sonali.
"Goodbye, Mother." Sonali's voice cracked as a single tear slid down her cheek. Chrissa walked up behind her best friend and hugged her tight.
Charity noticed my solemn state and nudged my shoulder.
"You okay?" She asked.
I shook my head.
"Why not?" She asked again, her voice showing her concern.
"I mean, that could have been my mom. I don't know, I guess it's kind of me regretting all those years I didn't spend with my mom." I sighed.
"Have you called her lately?" She asked.
"Yeah, we talk once a week now, but every time I hang up that phone, the reality sets in that I'm not with my mom anymore." I stated as we made our way back to the car.
"You're not going to leave us like Julie, are you?" Charity's voice was even more concerned.
I chuckled.
"No, it's just a reality I'm going to have to face up to." I said, turning around just to see Cindie blow a kiss to her mother's grave before walking towards the car.
"But that could have been me." I whispered.
"What's that?" Charity asked.
"Nothing, come on. Let's go." I grabbed her hand and we walked back to the car.
